We had the absolute best time at the Mapplewell Summer Gala on Saturday! You truly cannot beat a beautiful day in such a warm and welcoming community. The absolute best part of the day? Getting to hang out and chat with all the incredible young people who joined us 💯👍

Our Dodworth Detached and Gobbledygook News media team have had a fab summer. Thanks to Great Childhoods Ambition we were able to go camping 😃. Of course it was properly raining on our arrival but it soon cleared up so we could build camp and our kitchen shelter (how many times did our Jeff say 'it'll be reyt, its character building!? 😆🙄') Bat walks and wildlife spotting opportunities were plentiful.
Whilst on camp the group created art pieces in memory of our friend and volunteer Andy / Ananda, which were left in the outdoors chapel and by the Barnsley Pals memorial at Silverwood Scout Camp. The history of the Pals regiments and their part in shaping Barnsley's proud contribution to the 1st World War was a subject close to Andy's heart. We followed up a week later with a trip to NT Wentworth Castle Gardens. We were in full Gobbledygook News mode and we created reels that celebrate this wonderful place. we had to change our initial plans as once again, character building weather was afoot, it mean the camaras might be compromised so plan B was employed. More to follow on our day at NT Wentworth Castle Gardens later.
